Dedicated to the memory of Donald Callaway

This site is a tribute to Donald Callaway, who was born in Maidenhead on February 13, 1934. He is much loved and will always be remembered.

Donald joined Air training Corps as a Cadet in 1949 and while in the Corp one of his last event prior to leaving in February 1952 to join the RAF  was King Gerge VI funeral at Windsor. On retirement he had achieved the rank of Warrant Officer in the post of SWO at Raf Coninsby.

Warrant Officer Callaway joined the RAF in February 1952. He was initially trained as a drill instructor,but later converted to the trade of Royal Air Force Administration. During his service he gained a wealth of experience,he has served overseas in Bahrain,Aden, Cyprus, Hong Kong and RAF Germany as well as many varied tours in the UK.

His 38 years of valued service have been recognised by the award of the Long Service and Good Conduct Medal and clasp,and he has been commended for meritorious service on 2 occasions in the Queens Birthday and New years honours list.

He was loved and respected by all who met him since his retirement in 1990, unfortunately ill health became is challenge he dealt with on a daily basis. He suddenly passed away on January 24th 2019, which was a great shock to his loving wife,daughter's,son's, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
